Hearing Link Trustee Andrew Dunlop MB ChB MRCGP DCH DPD
Andrew qualified in Medicine from Glasgow University in 1980 and has been a full time practising General Practitioner within a six doctor suburban practice in Edinburgh since 1986, more recently moving as a Partner to a ten doctor semi rural practice just outwith the city. His clinical interests have included Paediatrics and Respiratory medicine.
He has had a lot of experience dealing with a large elderly population, many of whom inevitably have associated age-related hearing impairment. He also has interests in Dermatology and has a hospital clinical assistantship post within the local Dermatology clinic.
He has served as a board member to the “Sick Kids Friends Foundation” charity between 2000-2009, which raised funds for the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh as well as being Medical Director to the North Edinburgh Out of Hours Co-operative between 1996-2004.
Andrew suffered profound hearing loss in 2009 and experienced directly the benefits and support from Hearing Link and its volunteers. He underwent cochlear implantation later that year. Andrew has been a volunteer with Hearing Link since 2010 and appointed a trustee in July 2014.
Andrew is married to Jacquie, a former solicitor and legal editor with one teenage daughter. He enjoys tennis, skiing and cycling and has recently discovered the delights of gardening and chicken keeping.
