About the group
We exist to provide Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people with lipreading tuition, coping and communication strategies and practical advice on how to manage their day-to-day activities in a hearing world. Nothing too academic- we have fun along the way.
We believe classes should be free for this vital life skill that enables some of our students to remain in employment and enjoy fulfilling work and private lives. We have recently lost some class sponsorship so we do need support. If you can, please donate on line at www.Localgiving.com/AndoverLipreaders
We work to overcome the social isolation that deafness can bring, by liaising with Andover Hard of Hearing Club. We go to their Christmas Lunch. They come to our annual skittles match – which we always win! We also hold a joint coffee and cake party in September.
For more information on lipreading classes throughout Hampshire go to www.lipreading.net
