Update on new website

In the last year, the Hearing Link website had over 250,000 page views, and welcomed over 130,000 visitors.

Most viewed content by our visitors included information on tinnitus, balance disorders, and hearing aids and implants that could help them.

Thank you to all the peer support volunteers who played a role in making sure our information on our website is up to date, suggesting ideas for new content or who shared their experiences for our visitors to enjoy.

New website loading…

Soon we will enter a new era of digital landscape for our charity with the launch of a combined website, bringing together the very best of Hearing Dogs and Hearing Link Services.

For people with hearing loss, the initial launch of the website will include:

  • 53 pages of detailed hearing loss information including information on the signs and causes of hearing loss, emotional and practical impacts of living with hearing loss and how to live and communicate well with hearing loss
  • Bespoke pages promoting our current offer of Hearing Link Services
  • And, signposting to self-help videos, equipment and organisations who can provide further help across the UK.

The content of the site will continue to evolve as we learn and understand how well it is meeting user needs.

The navigation of the new site has been designed based on different research conducted over the past 18 months. We have used website traffic statistics, user feedback, and surveys to define how it will be structured.

Visitors to the new website can expect a fresh and unified brand look. They will also encounter the same type of friendly, informative and super useable hearing loss content that the Hearing Link Services website is currently known for. We will also showcase our expertise in breeding and training of our hearing dogs, as well as detailed information on how to access hearing dog support.

The site has also been designed to promote accessibility and as it develops, we will continue to ensure it can support everyone who accesses it.

It is currently sitting with our Executive Leadership Team and Trustees to review and provide feedback. This includes trustee, Barry Downes, who some of you will be familiar with from how role in the Helpdesk and as a former trustee of Hearing Link.

You will need to wait a bit longer to see the finished article, as we expect the new site to launch over the summer. Keep your eyes peeled for updates on launch dates.

Future opportunities

As part of our co-creation promise in the strategy, there will be opportunities for our peer support volunteers to get involved in the continued development of the website.

We want to ensure the lived experience of people living with hearing loss filters through all our content – informational and through storytelling.

It is hoped that we will grow the reference information available for our visitors to browse and this will be shaped by discussions and research we conduct with yourselves, professionals in the sector and those we support.

As soon as we know more about how you can be part of this work, we will share the details. In the meantime, if you have any content ideas, please share them with Lorna or Nicholas.
