Self management programmes

Our friendly and informal programmes contain a range of useful strategies and techniques to enable people living with hearing loss to feel independent and more self confident. They are run by experienced facilitators who themselves live with a hearing loss.

About the programmes

The programme is suitable for people with any degree of hearing loss, who would like to manage better on a day to day basis. People are encouraged to share their own experiences and coping strategies and to learn from others in the group. We cover topics such as:

  • communication
  • equipment
  • personal safety
  • relaxation
  • well-being

Communication support may include hearing loops, flip charts, digital notepads, and a note taker or ‘Speech to Text’ reporter who will transcribe what is said as it is being said so you can read it on a large screen.

Details

  • The programmes consist of either: three sessions in total, each taking place between 10am and 3pm. Or, residential over a weekend.
  • They are free of charge for individuals and their family and friends to attend, including accommodation and meals.
  • You just have to pay for travel costs to and from the venue.

We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully meeting you!
