Survey: Experiences of D/deaf/HoH people through COVID.

Research is being carried out to find out the impact Covid-19 has had on the d/Deaf and hard of hearing community. Lead by hard of hearing teacher Arthur Hewitt and University of Bolton lecturer Ben Hughes, their survey seeks to find out what changes have occurred and if life has improved post pandemic.

Arthur and Ben are beginning to collect data for this research. They are looking for volunteers across the UK to take part in their questionnaires and possible interviews/focus groups.

Their research paper focuses on the d/Deaf and hard of hearing communities’ attitudes post-Covid. I.e, what changes have occurred and if life has improved for d/Deaf/HoH people post-Covid. They are particularly interested in d/D/HoH people who were in education during and after the pandemic.

How is the data being collected?

Arthur and Ben are collecting the data for this research via three different methods:

  1. An online questionnaire to be filled out first.
  2. One to one interviews (offered to participants who give details to be contacted for an interview via the online questionnaire)
  3. Focus groups, depending on the quality and quantity of their data if needed.
