Blog: Helpful Hours return for 2024!
Due to the incredible success and wonderful feedback we have received, our Helpful Hours service has added new dates for 2024!
Since its launch, we have run four Helpful Hour webinars on the topic of “How to get the most from your audiology appointment” which offers help and advice for attending your first, or a returning, visit to see an audiologist. Those four sessions have received such wonderful feedback that we’ve scheduled more dates for the new year.
“The information will help clarify my thinking before an appointment and be more proactive during it, and unafraid to make my views heard.”
“I thought it was a ‘very’ helpful hour. It was presented really well, and the use of personal experiences and examples used was great.”
Sessions for 2024
Our next webinars will take place on the following dates (so far!) in 2024:
- Thursday 18 January, 4-5pm
- Friday 23 February, 3-4pm
- Thursday 14 March, 12-1pm
So, if you missed out on this year’s sessions, rest assured you will get another chance to attend early next year.
These webinars are completely free and can be attended from the comfort of your own home. Helpful Hours are suitable for anyone with hearing loss, their families and friends.

What is a Helpful Hour?
As the name suggests, Helpful Hours are 60-minute sessions that offer information and guidance on important hearing loss topics.
Each session includes up to five segments to allow for several aspects of the topic to be covered. There will also be time to ask your questions to our peer support volunteers at the end of the session.
Following the webinar, you will also be provided with a series of information sheets. These cover the main topics covered, additional information and links to resources. This means you won’t have to concentrate on taking notes during the session – we’ve done it for you!
Are Helpful Hour webinars accessible for people with hearing loss?
We present our Helpful Hour webinars via Microsoft webinar. We encourage you to access our webinars using a desktop computer or a laptop for full access to all application functions.
Our webinars are supported by speech to text reporting on the presenting screen, and live caption function on the Microsoft Team app. This allows you to follow what is being said throughout the presentation. Your host will explain how to access these. If you require an alternative form of communication support (e.g. British Sign Language) please contact us before completing the registration process.
