Accessible cinema petition

Ellie Parfitt aka “Deafie Blogger” has started a new petition aimed at encouraging cinemas to show hearing loss friendly subtitled movies at reasonable times.

While a number of cinema across the UK do show movies with subtitles, they are shown infrequently and/or at inconvenient hours, particularly for those attending education or who work during the day. This leaves few opportunities for movie lovers with hearing loss to enjoy the latest blockbusters on the big screen at the same time as their hearing friends and family.

Ellie’s petition aims to make the case for more subtitled showings at more reasonable times and days by showing cinemas that there is indeed need and demand for this.
