Helpful Hours – new bookable service

After the success of our in-person Helpful Hour held in July at our Hearing Information Day in Bielby, we are pleased to announce four bookable Helpful Hour webinars running from October to December.

Take a look here for more information about this new service and if you can spread the word about our newest service.

What is a Helpful Hour?

As a reminder, a Helpful Hour is a 60 minute session, held online or in-person at events. Our first bookable session is called ‘How to get the most from your audiology appointment’.

This webinar was developed at weekly sessions over a period of several months by a group of our peer support volunteers Julia, Emmanuelle, Sylvia, John and Katrina. Thank you all for your hard work thus far.

The narrative of the session follows five key areas

  • Preparing yourself for your appointment.
  • Preparing your appointment – describing your hearing and lifestyle.
  • What to expect – the language and procedure.
  • Choices to make – your hearing aids and additional devices.
  • Post-appointment – what’s next, what to expect and accept.

Join our trial events

Ahead of these online dates we’ll be running at least two technical rehearsals, and we’ll need a limited audience for those. The dates are:

  • Wed 13 September, 1-2pm
  • Monday 25 September, 11-12pm.

Drop Nicholas an email if you would like to attend. By attending we will be able to check the pre-post event communications, the booking system, as well as the online presentation and communication support, as well as another good run-through of the material.

And what about you? Can you see yourself as a Helpful Hour presenter? If so, then these September sessions are for you too, and I’d love to hear from you! It’s not as easy as it looks, and it takes a particular skill set to deliver online. Get in touch if you are curious and would like to know more.
