NHS Wales to implement new accessibility standards

The Health Secretary, Vaughan Gething, has announced improvements to the All Wales Sensory Loss Standards geared towards ensuring that patients with sensory losses, including hearing loss, have access to the communication support they need.

The new standards require GP surgeries in Wales to identify and record the specific communication needs of their patients on their medical records and to ensure that this information is correctly passed on if a patient is later referred to hospital or other healthcare facilities for treatment.
